Free iTunes+Starbucks Twenty-Song Playlist, Just in Time for the Holidays!

Hey, everyone! Happy holidays! Along with your gifts and Christmas tree (or monorrah, I suppose), there's even MORE for you to enjoy! iTunes is giving a special promotion twenty-song playlist of all of Starbucks' "Pick of the Week"s. Of course, I had to go through quite a bit of crap to actually get the full experience of it, but it's pretty worth it, I guess...
First, I had to download the new iTunes because you couldn't download the new playlist without it.
Second, I had to download the new Safari because you couldn't use the new iTunes store without it.
Third, I had to download the new Mac OS X software because you couldn't download the new Safari without it.
Finally, I downloaded the new Safari and I am listening to the playlist this very moment. It has two artists I already know about, ZaZa and Kate Earl, who are pretty cool. So, you should give it a try, and maybe download a bunch of software crap while you're at it ;]

Yes, the title is correct. The Ting Tings are nominated for a best new artist Grammy! I just found out yesterday but didn't have any time to blog about it, tons of stuff to do. So there you are! They're also up against two of my other favorite bands, though, Silversun Pickups and MGMT. Let's hope The Ting Tings, win, though! Watch the awards ceremony, being held at the Staples Center January 31st! See ya!

Free 'Little Bird' Download From Eels' New Album!

The new Eels album 'End Times' won't be released until January 19, 2010, but you can get a sneak peek now for free! It's a song called 'Little Bird'. I just listened to it, it's really peaceful and cute. Download it while you can still get it for free! I'll post the little e-mail submission thing here--

And by the way, some unrelated news, La Roux hates The Ting Tings! Now, that doesn't make me like her less or anything, but I just thought it was kind of surprising since their music's in the same area. Still love them both, though! Just thought I'd put it out there...

NO--The Ting Tings Signed to Jay-Z's New Record Label

Okay, people I have VERY bad news. Well, I don't know if it'll be bad news for you guys, but...THE TING TINGS SIGNED TO JAY-Z'S US RECORD LABEL ROC NATION! I know it'll probably make them loads of money and make them really famous but come on, JAY-Z is going to produce some of their new tracks! I'm worried that they'll just follow the same path as all those indie bands take. They get tons of money thrown at them and so much pressure put on them that their music's really not that good anymore. I remember The Ting Tings saying that they would do everything themselves, but now I'm not sure. I think they are the best band ever (well, aside from The Beatles, eheh) and hopefully this will be for better instead of for worse, because that would really suck since they have such great music. Well, keep an eye open for The Ting Tings' new album! We're all waiting!

Heartsrevolution's New EP 'Hearts Japan' Out Now!

Hey, guys! Well, you probably haven't heard of Heartsrevolution, but they're AMAZING! You may have actually heard their most popular song 'Dance Till Dawn' on Gossip Girl (it's in the scene from Jenny's sweet sixteen). Anyway, they've just released their fourth (I believe) EP called 'Hearts Japan'. It has pretty much the songs they've already released (C.Y.O.A., Switchblade, Dance Till Dawn) with remixes, but it also has one new song called Prism Effect (featuring Cory Kennedy) and a "lullaby" version of their great song 'Digital Suicide', which is really lovely. Both of the songs are awesome. If you've never bought any Heartsrevolution song, this is a great bundle to buy because it pretty much has all of their best songs. You can get it on iTunes now! Seeya!

The Raveonettes' New Album In and Out of Control Out Today!

You may have heard their hit song 'Dead Sound' featured in the movie Whip It or on the iTunes Lollapalooza free sampler (GREAT song, by the way). The Raveonettes just released their new album, In and Out of Control today. It's got some great-sounding tracks on it and I can't wait to buy it! Next time you're at the record store and don't know what to buy, definitely pick it up. I believe a limited number of CDs have something special inside...
Anyway, you can get two tracks from their new album...yes, FOR FREE! Just go to this website (http://share.theraveonettes.com/) and with the first two links you can get two free downloads of their songs 'Last Dance' and 'Suicide'. It's free, so what are you waiting for?

Ladyhawke's Acoustic Set at Space 1520!

Okay, I'm EXTREMELY happy. I just met Ladyhawke--twice! I went to her acoustic set at Space 1520 near Urban Outfitters, it was really amazing! My friend and I were RIGHT in the front. Afterwards, when she was walking off I said hi and we actually talked! It was really cool. Then later while we were walking around in Urban Outfitters we walked past her, too. It was such a fun day. Ladyhawke's SO awesome! Hopefully you guys will get to see her live the next time she comes to your city! This show was free, but it's definitely worth buying tickets for. See ya!

Ladyhawke's New Video for Her Next UK Single, Magic!

Hey, guys! You might've heard me talk about Ladyhawke a while back when she came out with her US Only Deluxe Album. Well, now Pip's coming out with a new single in the UK called Magic, which is also on the album. It's a really great song, and I think it's her most popular. Anyway, today the video was released on NME and I found a link on it for YouTube. It's a strange video but it's pretty cool. Watch it, and if you haven't bought the song already, BUY IT! I'm going to post the video on here for everyone to watch. Have fun!

La Roux's Debut Album Is Out Now/Fran Drescher's Debut Single Eye For an Eye (Late, sorry)

Okay, I'm really mad at myself. Sorry this post is really late! I just wanted to say that exactly a week ago from today La Roux's self-titled debut album came out. I haven't had the time to buy it, but it sounds really awesome. Also, her single "Bulletproof" was up for the free Single of the Week on iTunes. Unfortunately, it's some other song now. Sorry I didn't post it earlier, you probably would've been able to get it. Or maybe you downloaded anyway, that's smart. Anyway, something else was also released just yesterday. Fran Drescher's debut single, Eye For an Eye! Woo! (crickets from audience). Now, I'm a HUGE Fran Drescher fan (she's my hero!), but I wasn't so sure about her recording a song. I sampled it on iTunes and I was surprised. It's actually pretty good! I know her voice is really nasaly, but she somehow made it work. You don't have to buy it (I didn't even buy it, don't have any iTunes money :S), but I think you should at least give it a listen on YouTube or something. You might be surprised! So, two new releases for all you people to listen to! Have fun!

Adidas Originals/Ting Tings Paint Party!

Oh my gosh. Last night was SERIOUSLY the best night of my ENTIRE LIFE! I had sooo much fun at the paint party last night, it was so amazing. Okay, so here's what happened--
My mum and I waited in line for a little while to get in, and then we finally did! We went into a room where they were giving out the black tracksuits that everyone was going to wear, so we got two and waited in line for a dressing room. Once we had the tracksuits on, then we went downstairs and it was really cool down there. There were all these black lights and loud music with photos of the Ting Tings' first paint party in Manchester. I didn't have any of my friends with me there to dance with, so I kind of just leaned against the wall. Then, the curtains opened to the other side of the room, and everybody took all these paint bottles and just started squirting everywhere! I left my mum in the other room 'cause she didn't want to go paint, so I ran in and we all just started painting! It was such a fun experience, I got COVERED in paint. Then, The Ting Tings came on to the stage and started playing. They gave such an amazing performance, everyone was like squirting paint at them, and I was jumping and dancing and screaming my head off. Then at the end of the show they just squirted paint at everyone. It was awesome. Afterwards, my mum and I waited around by the backstage curtain because I had a feeling they would come out of there. Then, I saw them both come out of the curtain with sunglasses on and everything. Of course, my life dream is to meet The Ting Tings, so I quickly ran up to Katie and poked her. She looked back and I said "I'm your biggest fan, I LOVE you guys!" She smiled and held out her hand to shake and I SHOOK KATIE WHITE'S HAND. It was so awesome. After she walked away I started screaming and jumping around in circles. Well, that's pretty much everything that happened. Amazing night, THANK YOU TING TINGS!!!

Hey, guys! It's the moment we've all (well, maybe just me) have been waiting for! We Have Band's new US only EP is out today on iTunes! It's got some really great tracks on it, I highly recommend buying it! Here are the songs on the new EP--
1.Hear It In the Cans (DIY Version)
2.Oh!
3.You Came Out (this is the only one that hasn't been available in the US yet)
4.West End Girls (this one wasn't exactly available in the US before, but you could've downloaded it for free on the NME site I think, that's where I got it...)

Well, there you go! They're all really cool songs, a really good EP especially for parties and dancing! Hope you all like it!

We Have Band's US Tour Dates Announced!

Well, I was at first EXTREMELY excited about this, since I've been waiting for We Have Band to come to the states for well, EVER. They're even coming to LA. Imagine me, happy and excited Kira, going to the Cinespace website and calling the number to ask if it's a 21+ venue, when the first words that are uttered from the phone are "Thank you for calling Cinespace. We are a 21+ venue." I was REALLY angry that the concert I've been waiting for was 21+. I mean, doesn't Cinespace even THINK about the poor little thirteen-year-olds out there who want to go to a concert just for fun and to see one of their favorite bands? Well anyway, don't let me spoil your fun. If you're in the US, I would definitely go see We Have Band. You won't be disappointed. Here are the tour dates--

October 24th @ Santos Party House, New York
October 25 @ Great Scott, Boston
October 27 @ Cinespace, Los Angeles (*sob*)

Ladyhawke's US Only Deluxe Album Out Now!

Well, this is a little late since it came out September 1st, but here it is: Ladyhawke (my favorite solo artist) recently re-released her self-titled album in a deluxe version for US only (who would've thought, eh?)! It now has extra songs--Oh My (only released on the UK version of the album, but my friend from England e-mailed the MP3 file to me ;D), Danny & Jenny (from the US only Paris Is Burning EP, which I also already have), and acoustic versions of Paris Is Burning, Dusk Til Dawn, and My Delirium (don't have those!). I'll probably cheap out and just buy the songs I don't have instead of the deluxe version, but if you haven't heard of or heard Ladyhawke, I would definitely buy the whole album. Then you don't have to go and buy her other EP or anything like that. So if you live in the US, there's a new CD for you to buy! Have fun listening to Ladyhawke, she's great!

They sound alike and they both sound great! I had their songs constantly on replay while drawing. Fiona Crawford is a ukelele player from Scotland and She & Him is actress Zooey Deschanel and M. ANOTHER Free iTunes Playlist...

I have to say, iTunes really keeps the deals coming. There's another set of twenty free songs for the Indie Spotlight. I have to say it's definitely not as good as the last, I've already deleted three songs off it (listening right now). Well, that's my opinion. It has a lot of hip hop and rap so far, which I'm really not into. But again, you should download it. There are some pretty decent songs on it!

Another Free Set of Songs from iTunes!

If you liked the free twenty Indie Spotlight songs from iTunes, then you'll probably like their new Lollapalooza fifteen-song sampler. I haven't heard of any of the artists on it except for Deerhunter, but I'm listening to it right now and so far it's pretty good. Since I wasn't able to attend (sobs) at least I can hear what kind of music was there. Unfortunately, it doesn't have Bat For Lashes on the playlist, though. Still, check it out. It's not everyday you get fifteen free songs!

The First CD I've Seen That's Black on BOTH Sides.

A while back on May 22 I saw The Kills with The Horrors supporting them and ever since then I've thought they were really cool. I just bought their album 'Strange House' and I realized that the back of the CD is black instead of silver! I just thought that was really amazing for some reason. I mean, how often do you see that kind of stuff. I have a picture but it's kind of crappy 'cause I just took it on my webcam, so...here. BEHOLD THE AMAZING BLACK CD!!!

Let Us Be Free...

I got Tilly and the Wall's album 'Bottoms of Barrels' yesterday on a late night trip to Amoeba Music and I really like it. It's real feel-good music and just makes you really happy. Well, most of the songs, at least. A few of the songs like 'Lost Girls' and 'Coughing Colors' are a bit depressing, but good nonetheless. I think one of my favorite songs on the album would be 'Sing Songs Along' just because it's so happy and cheerful. There's lots of shouting and tap dancing, and the video's really fun too, with gymnasiums and trampolines. I know the album's pretty old and if you're a Tilly and the Wall fan you've probably have already heard it (well, I hadn't), but it's an album I would recommend. And their album 'O' is really good, too. Well, I'm gonna post the 'Sing Songs Along' video and be off. All that's left is 'Wild Like Children' left for me to buy...

The Ting Tings/Natalie Portman's Shaved Head/Hottub 8/4/09

That was the most amazing concert I have ever been to! It was so fun and exciting. I got there early and stood around for two hours, but it was definitely worth it. I was in the pit area! Anyway, the first opening act was this hip-hop girl group called Hottub. They were really energetic and fun, but some of their dance moves were a little...ehhh. The second opening act I liked a lot better. They were called Natalie Portman's Shaved Head. You can't expect much from a band with a name like that, but they were really awesome. They were really fun to dance to. And last but not least, The Ting Tings after that. They were SO amazing. I was dancing and screaming my head off the whole time. They had this whole big screen in the back and all these synthesizers. I even almost caught the drumstick! It was a really good show. Hope you all get to see The Ting Tings sometime!

I Love 'Love'

Clever title, eh? Anyway, I went to Las Vegas Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and my family took me to see The Beatles Love with Cirque De Soleil and it was absolutely amazing! I've only seen a Cirque De Soleil show once and it was pretty good, but this was REALLY GOOD. There was so much stuff in it! Screens, curtains with projectors on them, a big parachute that went over the audience, and little lights hanging on strings everywhere. It was overall, really well put together and fun to watch. I would definitely see it again. Well, even if I had to walk around in the swiltering Las Vegas summer heat...

TKO...

Wow. I just read this huge article on some music blog about TKO, the band Katie White from The Ting Tings was in when she was like, fourteen. They could've gotten huge record deals and everything, and they only released one single! It just made me wonder what would've happened if they did get signed and became big famous pop stars...would there be Dear Eskiimo? Would there be The Ting Tings? Hmmm, so many questions. I've been trying to find TKO on YouTube for the past fifteen minutes, but I can't find anything. If any of you have any links or MP3's or something, that would be awesome.

Acoustic Performance and Art by The Kills :D

The Kills--they're great music artists and visual artists! If The Kills don't ring a bell, think of the new singer in The Dead Weather, Alison Mosshart. Well, The Kills are even BETTER (Sorry for Dead Weather fans, I just don't like them that much). You may already know that, of course. If you downloaded that free Indie Spotlight iTunes package, it has a few songs from their first album in 2003, Keep On Your Mean Side. Anyway, they just did a couple of acoustic videos on the Rolling Stone AND later did some really cool artwork for BlackBook.

You can see the videos here:

Twenty Free iTunes Songs! (Yes, I Said Twenty.)

Okay everyone, I have exciting news. I mean REALLY EXCITING news. Well, if you like indie music. Do you see where this is leading...? Probably not. That's why I'm going to tell you. If you become a fan of iTunes Music on Facebook, you can get a code for twenty free songs! AND they're actually good! It took me a while to listen to them all, but most of them are really wicked. It's for the Indie Spotlight and such. I can't name the all the songs you'll get because I deleted a few (not all of them are good), but I can tell you that is has some of my favorite artists like The Kills, Regina Spektor, and Phoenix. I'm not sure when it expires, but I wouldn't wait just in case it's sometime soon. Hurry, go to the free songs, young grasshoppers! Okay, that was stupid. Seeya people!

Taylor Momsen's New Band Is 'Pretty' Good

Looks like the 'Gossip Girl' star has her own band now, called The Pretty Reckless. And they're actually really good (well, I do kind of dislike the band name)! It's definitely not what I expected from Taylor Momsen, or any other of those privileged celebs who get record deals out of thin air just because they're on a hit show. It's not exactly what I'd call rock, but it's kind of dark pop. They've got a cool sound. They don't have any singles or albums out yet, but you can see a few of their songs on YouTube. So check out The Pretty Reckless!

Ingrid Michaelson's New Mailing List...and a New Album Already!

Hey, everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts in a while, I was on a mini-vacation in San Diego. Anywho, the day before I left, I found out Ingrid Michaelson has a mailing list now. I usually only sign up on mailing lists for artists I REALLY REALLY REALLY like (well, I like Ingrid Michaelson buy I've never actually bought like a full album of hers), but it had a free MP3! Yes, that's right, free music. Woo! AND she's already coming out with a new album, and if any of you guys are fans of her you probably know she just recently came out with her album Be OK. You gotta give her props for fast songwriting! Wait...did I just say "give props"? Oh well. So anyway, if you're interested in any free Ingrid Michaelson MP3s, sign up for the mailing list. Doesn't take long!

Regina Spektor's New Album, 'Far'

Okay well, yesterday I hurried to Target (I know I know, not a proper record store but my mum wasn't going to take me to Amoeba Records or anything) to buy Regina Spektor's new album, 'Far'. I'm glad I did, because it's really amazing. It's kind of different than her usual stuff, but in a good way. And it has a package made of 30% consumer recyclables or something. Good for the ears, good for the Earth! So anyway, you should definitely buy it...? See ya, people!

Gossip Girl--the Music

I'm sure you've all heard of the super-famous, horribly scandalous yet strangely addictive show Gossip Girl (which I watch all the time). I did notice that the music in it is REALLY good, though. It actually includes all my favorite artists like The Kills, THE TING TINGS, MGMT, and Does It Offend You Yeah. So, if you're not usually into show soundtracks (like me), try the Gossip Girl soundtrack. Or well, just buy the songs from the actual artists so you don't have to buy the whole thing. Well, just wanted to say that.

1) Traveling Like the Light, VV Brown's debut album! I can't wait for this to come out, the only songs I have by her are two bad quality songs snagged from YouTube...be sure to check it out! She toured with The Ting Tings and Ladyhawke, so she must be worth listening to! (June 22nd)

2) Far, Regina Spektor's...fourth album. You've probably only heard her most famous song, Fidelity. You know, the one that goes "it breaks my ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-heart". Yeah. Take a moment to listen to her other stuff, though. Especially her older stuff. You'll see a whole new side of her...oooo... (June 23rd)

3) La Roux's debut album...LA ROUX! Creative, eh? I think I'm more excited for La Roux's album than any of the others, though. She is AMAZING! She's kind of electro-pop-eighties and she has this really great twisted moussed red hair that only she can pull off. Definitely listen to it. DEFINITELY!!! (June 29th)

So if you're pondering harshly on what to buy at the record store, try something new. You won't be disappointed!

Warrior!

Okay, I just wanted to say that everyone should check out the Magic Wands' new song, Warrior. I absolutely looooooooove it. Now, you probably haven't heard of the Magic Wands (I tend to listen to lots of bands you haven't heard of), but they're one of the best bands, I have to say. I first heard them at The Music Box when I went to see The Kills. They were the opening band, and after the concert I added them on MySpace and bought ALL of their songs on iTunes. They sound a bit eighties-ish I guess, I can't really explain it. You should listen for yourself! Warrior isn't available for download yet, but you can view it on their MySpace page or YouTube. But instead of going on a different site, I'm going to have it on the end of this post! How great is that? M-hmmm. Have fun!

AGH

I really do not enjoy when artists release stuff that's UK only. I was so excited for You Came Out to be released on iTunes yesterday, and IT WASN'T IN THE STORE!!! It was only in the United Kingdom store...
So yes, that made me gravely depressed. And sorry to those of you who were planning to buy it, I guess I told you the wrong date. Hopefully it will be in the US soon. SOON!

Disneyland Festivities...?

Hello, everyone. Well, yesterday I went to Disneyland and it was pretty awesome (who doesn't love Disneyland?). I got to see a bunch of shows and such. But anywho, they had this new TomorrowLand Nightclub thingie which had some pretty good music (I like any kind of nightclub :] ). Then Mitchel Musso performed, and he actually wasn't lip-synching. *gasp from audience* Note: this does not mean I like his music! So...if you're planning to go to Disneyland sometime in the summer, I would suggest going TomorrowLand. Farewell!

We Have Band's 'You Came Out' Video Premiere

Well, you probably haven't heard of them, but this really awesome band called We Have Band just premiered the video for their new single, You Came Out. It's actually really strange, but it's very cool, trust me. It's a stop-motion video with tons of face painting and stuff. You should definitely check it out (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANKjz-7uZIc). I'm pretty sure their single comes out June 15, and it's being released on a limited edition blue 7", only 500 copies made. You can order one on Rough Trade or Pure Groove. Or you could just download it on iTunes, which is what I'm probably going to do. I would buy it, but right now I'm saving up for a loop pedal ;]

You also might want to know that I really love The Ting Tings, A LOT, so there may be frequent posts about them. But I listen to other things too, so don't worry.
Well, thanks for reading this, I look forward to getting to know all you bloggers :D
